SEIZURE DISORDER & EPILEPSY

A disorder in which nerve cell activity in the brain is disturbed, causing seizures. Epilepsy may occur as a result of a genetic disorder or an acquired brain injury, such as a trauma or stroke. Epilepsy is usually treated by medication and in some cases by surgery, devices, or dietary changes.

Headache & Migraine

A headache of varying intensity, often accompanied by nausea and sensitivity to light and sound. Migraine headaches are sometimes preceded by warning symptoms. Triggers include hormonal changes, certain food and drink, stress and exercise.

Stroke

A stroke occurs when the blood supply to part of your brain is interrupted or reduced, preventing brain tissue from getting oxygen and nutrients. Brain cells begin to die in minutes.

Movement Disorder (Parkinson's Disease), Tremor

Parkinson's disease is a progressive nervous system disorder that affects movement. Symptoms start gradually, sometimes starting with a barely noticeable tremor in just one hand. Tremors are common, but the disorder also commonly causes stiffness or slowing of movement.

Spondylosis (Neck & Back Pain)

Cervical spondylosis produces neck pain and lumbar spondylosis produces low back pain. As you might imagine, thoracic spondylosis would produce mid-back pain but is considerably less common than neck or lower back pain.

Memory (Dementia)

Dementia is a term used to describe a group of symptoms affecting memory, thinking, and social abilities severely enough to interfere with your daily life. It isn't a specific disease, but several diseases can cause dementia.

Vertigo (Dizziness)

Vertigo is a sensation of feeling off-balance. If you have these dizzy spells, you might feel like you are spinning or that the world around you is spinning. Vertigo is often caused by an inner ear problem

Multiple Sclerosis

A disease in which the immune system eats away at the protective covering of nerves. Nerve damage disrupts communication between the brain and the body. Multiple sclerosis causes many different symptoms, including vision loss, pain, fatigue, and impaired coordination

Brain Tumor

A cancerous or non-cancerous mass or growth of abnormal cells in the brain. Tumors can start in the brain, or cancer elsewhere in the body can spread to the brain.

Neuropathy

Weakness, numbness, and pain from nerve damage, usually in the hands and feet. A common cause of peripheral neuropathy is diabetes, but it can also result from injuries, infections, and exposure to toxins.

EEG & NCS

Electroencephalography (EEG) is the measurement of electrical activity produced by the brain as recorded from electrodes placed on the scalp. A nerve conduction study (NCS) is a test commonly used to evaluate the function, especially the ability of electrical conduction, of the motor and sensory nerves of the human body.

MUSCULAR and NMJ DISORDERS

Neuromuscular junction disorders typically decrease nerve cell activity and cause muscle weakness. But they do not affect sensation (that is, they do not cause loss of sensation or abnormal sensations, such as tingling or a pins-and-needle sensation).
